A violent clash on the remote Victoria Highway in the Northern Territory has left one man dead and three others injured. The incident unfolded around 9 pm on Monday, when emergency services were alerted to a large group of people fighting, some armed with edged weapons, near Timber Creek, approximately 600 km from Darwin.
The situation escalated when an unknown individual got into a vehicle and drove recklessly through the area, striking a 27-year-old man. Tragically, the man died at the scene.
During the brawl, a 16-year-old male and a 65-year-old woman were assaulted with an edged weapon, sustaining serious injuries. They were treated at the scene and later flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for further care.
A 24-year-old man also suffered minor injuries during the incident. The highway was closed throughout the day as police meticulously set up three distinct crime scenes.
Additional police resources were summoned from Katherine, along with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, Northern Investigations Section, and Major Crime Detectives. The authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them on 131 444 or via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
